SSP Reasi Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, today chaired a Thana Diwas programme at the Community Hall, Arnas, aimed at strengthening Police-Public relations and providing a platform for addressing public grievances and local policing concerns.

The programme was attended by SDPO Arnas Sh. Updesh Kumar, SHO Police Station Arnas Insp. Sureshwar Dev Singh, and prominent members and representatives of civil society from Arnas and adjoining areas.
During the interaction, participants raised several issues concerning public safety, policing infrastructure and community welfare. Key demands included establishment and infrastructure development of Police Posts at Panassa, Thanole, Dhansal, Kouri and Dharmari, adequate ammunition for Village Defence Guards (VDGs), improvement of poor road conditions, establishment of a gymnasium for youth and organisation of sports tournaments under the Civic Action Programme.

Responding to the concerns, SSP Reasi assured the gathering that genuine issues related to policing and public safety would be taken up on priority.
He informed that infrastructure and establishment work for Police Station Panassa and Police Post Thanole is already underway. Land has also been identified for Police Posts at Dhansal and Kouri, with construction expected to commence shortly. The process of land identification for Police Post Dharmari is also being pursued with the concerned authorities.
On the issue of VDGs, SSP Reasi directed the SHO Police Station Arnas to ensure adequate ammunition is provided to VDG members, with immediate action in this regard.
Focus on Youth and Drug-Free Society

Emphasising the importance of constructive engagement of youth, SSP Reasi informed that Volleyball and Kabaddi tournaments under the Civic Action Programme will soon be organised in Arnas and adjoining areas. The proposal for establishing a Gym Centre at Arnas will also be taken up for consideration.
During the programme, participants were sensitised about the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and the Dial-112 Police Helpline. The gathering was also made aware of the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need for collective community participation in combating the drug menace.

SSP Reasi further appealed to the public to remain vigilant and act as the eyes and ears of the security forces, urging citizens to promptly report any suspicious movement or activities of Anti-National Elements (ANEs) to the authorities.
The Thana Diwas initiative reflects Reasi Police’s continued focus on community-oriented policing, responsive grievance redressal and stronger Police-Public coordination.
