Reasi, October 5, 2026: In a major achievement in the fight against cybercrime, Reasi Police has recovered 67 missing mobile phones worth ₹12.60 lakh during August and September 2026, taking the total number of mobile phones recovered and returned to their rightful owners to 273.
The latest recovery includes mobile phones belonging to local residents as well as pilgrims who visited the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine. Reasi Police had earlier handed over 206 recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners on July 24, 2026.
Pilgrims’ Mobile Phones to Be Sent Through Courier
According to Reasi Police, the recovered mobile phones are being handed over to their rightful owners after completion of the required legal formalities.
For pilgrims who have already left Reasi district, the recovered mobile phones will be sent to their respective addresses through courier/parcel services, ensuring a hassle-free return of their belongings.
₹36.12 Lakh Recovered in Cyber Fraud Cases
In another significant achievement, the Cyber Police Station, Reasi, has traced and recovered ₹36.12 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases reported during 2026.
Out of the recovered amount, ₹23.60 lakh has already been refunded to victims after obtaining the required court orders. The remaining amount is currently under due legal process and will be released to the rightful claimants after completion of the necessary formalities.
Police Appeals to Report Missing Phones Immediately
Reasi Police has appealed to citizens and pilgrims to report the loss of mobile phones immediately at the nearest Police Station or Police Post.
While reporting a missing mobile phone, the IMEI number should be provided, as it is essential for tracing and recovering the device. The IMEI number can be obtained by dialling *#06# on the mobile phone.
Pilgrims who have already left Reasi district without reporting the loss of their mobile phones can share the details of the missing device along with its IMEI number at sspreasi@jkpolice.gov.in for necessary action.
Public Advised to Stay Alert Against Cyber Fraud
Reasi Police has also urged the public to remain vigilant while using digital platforms and immediately report any cyber fraud by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or by registering a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
